Volunteer Week, 1-7 June, Come Volunteer with us!

9th May 2023

Volunteer Week 1 to 7 June 2023

Come join our food donation drive!

As the Project Manager of North Belfast Foodbank, I have witnessed first hand the incredible impact that volunteers can make in our community. The selfless dedication and hard work of our volunteers are what enable us to continue providing essential support to those in need.

Volunteer Week is fast approaching, and I am writing this blog to encourage as many people as possible to get involved with our donation drive. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of those who are struggling, and to experience the joy of giving back to your community. I would like to encourage everyone to take a moment to consider donating their time and energy to our upcoming donation drive.

The North Belfast Foodbank is a vital resource for individuals and families in need. We provide emergency food assistance to those who are struggling with food poverty in our local community. With the ongoing cost of living crisis, the need for our services has only increased. There has been a significant impact on many individuals and families, and we have seen an unprecedented demand for our services in the last year.

In the year to the end of March 2023 we fed 2,549 people and distributed 23 tonnes of food, thats a 70% increase on the year before.  Our donations did increase by 20% to 20 tonnes but this shortfall has impacted our stock levels.  We have shortages of product lines and our stock level is about two thirds of what it was last year.

Volunteer & make a difference!

This is where volunteers come in. Without the help of volunteers, we simply could not operate.

Volunteering at our donation drive is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of those who are most in need. Whether you can spare an hour or a whole day, your time and energy will be invaluable in helping us to collect, every gesture counts.

Volunteering with the North Belfast Foodbank is a rewarding experience. Not only do you get the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping those who are most in need, but you also get to work with a team of like-minded individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the community. Volunteering can also be a great way to develop new skills, meet new people and boost your confidence.

You don’t need any prior experience, just a willingness to learn and a desire to make a positive impact.

Volunteer Week is an excellent time to get involved with the North Belfast Foodbank. It is an opportunity to give back to the community and make a real difference in the lives of those who need it most. By volunteering with us, you can help ensure that everyone in our community has access to the basic necessities of life.

If you are unable to volunteer in person, there are still ways you can support us. You can help spread the word about our donation drive on social media, or make a donation of non-perishable food items at our collection point or funds to help us purchase essential supplies.

If you are part of company interested in getting your team involved contact us about opportunites, we would love to have you!
